This month I am taking part in a month of drawing, posting images every day. The weather has been amazing today: the clouds have been so low, shrouding the Bwlch mountain so that it almost disappeared. I wanted to try to capture this Turner-esque scene in my sketches today. The grey-blue-white clouds seemed to merge into the dark blue-grey of the valley. The sky looked as if it was being sucked into the valley below: it was an incredible sight!

I worked in pencil on A4 paper so that I could work as quickly as possible to capture this ever-changing scene. At one point the sun tried to come through (the first picture), and it was an absolute dazzle of white light which gave an opaque haze, obliterating the structure of the valley sides.
